Salmon Farm Expansion

Salmon Farm Expansion

Aquaculture France supports fish farming professionals in their new construction, expansion and modernisation projects by providing specialised equipment tailored to the specific requirements of aquaculture facilities.

A recent project at a mountain salmon farm illustrates this approach. The work involved installing six cylindrical steel tanks fitted with waterproof liners, as well as connecting them to the site's hydraulic systems.

The objective: to provide additional rearing capacity and integrate the new tanks into the farm's existing hydraulic system.

An 82 m³ Expansion Across Six Tanks

The project includes two tank sizes to meet the facility's specific needs:

  • 2 large tanks with a capacity of 25 m³ each (6.5 metres in diameter)
  • 4 smaller tanks with a capacity of 8 m³ each (3.6 metres in diameter)

Total additional tank capacity: 82 m³.

The tanks combine a cylindrical steel structure with a waterproof liner. This design combines a load-bearing structure with a watertight lining in a configuration tailored to the project.

The selection and installation of the equipment must take into account the site layout, support conditions, hydraulic connections and the specific requirements of the fish farming operation.

From Tank Installation to Hydraulic Connections

The work carried out goes beyond simply installing the tanks.

It also includes:

  • Installation of the two 25 m³ tanks;
  • Installation of the four 8 m³ tanks;
  • Upstream hydraulic connections;
  • Installation of the drainage systems;
  • Connection of the wastewater discharge to the river.

This approach treats the tanks as integrated components of a fish farming facility rather than as standalone units.

The quality of the connections, the consistency of the water supply and discharge circuits, and the suitability of the equipment for the site's specific constraints are all essential aspects of the project.

Aquaculture France: Distribution and Installation of Aquaculture Equipment

Fish farming projects often require several types of equipment to be combined while taking into account the specific characteristics of each facility.

Aquaculture France supplies equipment for fish farming, aquaculture and aquariology, with a focus on the practical needs of industry professionals.

Our business combines the distribution of specialised equipment with its integration into technical projects, complementing the aquaculture engineering and consultancy services provided by CHF Aquaculture.
