IBC containers

IBC containers (Intermediate Bulk Containers) are widely used in aquaculture for their practicality, durability, and versatility. Made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and protected by a metal cage, these modular tanks are designed for the storage and transport of large volumes of liquids.
In aquaculture, IBCs are especially valued for the following uses:
-
Water storage: fresh water, seawater, or rainwater for rearing tanks.
-
Quarantine: IBCs can serve as temporary tanks to isolate sick or newly introduced fish.
-
Preparation of treatments or liquid feed: they are ideal for mixing medicated or nutritional solutions before distribution.
-
Water recovery: in recirculating or closed-loop systems, IBCs collect water prior to filtration or reuse.
Easy to handle with a forklift, stackable, and usually equipped with a drain valve, IBCs offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for optimising water management in aquaculture operations.
