The hydrometer-thermometer is a combined instrument used to measure both the density (or salinity) of water and its temperature. It is mainly used in marine aquariums, but can also be useful for monitoring water quality in aquaculture systems.
Density (or salinity) measurement
Indicates the concentration of dissolved salts in water, usually expressed in g/L, ppt, or specific gravity (SG).
Ensures that salinity remains stable, which is essential for the health of marine fish and invertebrates.
Temperature measurement
Integrated into the device (column or dial thermometer).
Displays water temperature in °C or °F, allowing correction of density readings since density varies with temperature.
Simple measuring instrument for determining the salt content and temperature of the water; the result is read directly.
| Models | Reference | Name | Meauring range | Size (mm) | Weight |
| 1 | P0085010 | Densimeter 1 | 1.000 ... 1.035 | 160 - Ø15 | 0.03 |
| 2 | P0085020 | Densimeter 2 | 1.000 ... 1.270 | 170 - Ø15 | 0.04 |
Collect a water sample from the aquarium.
Gently immerse the hydrometer and wait for stabilization.
Read the density at the water surface level.
Note the temperature to correct the density if necessary.
Dual function (density + temperature).
Easy to use for routine water quality checks.
Does not require electricity.
Sensitive to air bubbles and temperature variations.
Less precise than a digital refractometer.
