The Multicyclone is a highly efficient pre-filtration system designed to remove large debris and particles from water before it reaches the main filtration unit. Using centrifugal force, the Multicyclone separates solids such as leaves, sand, and sediment, reducing the load on the primary filter and extending its lifespan. Ideal for swimming pools, irrigation systems, and aquaculture, it improves water clarity and lowers maintenance costs. Its compact design, easy installation, and minimal pressure drop make it a popular choice for enhancing filtration efficiency.
A hydrocyclone is a mechanical device that uses centrifugal force to separate solid particles from a liquid (typically water). It contains no moving parts and operates solely by fluid pressure.
Tangential fluid entry
Water containing particles enters the hydrocyclone tangentially, creating a strong rotational movement (vortex).
Separation by centrifugal force
The swirling motion generates centrifugal force, pushing solid particles (denser than water) toward the walls of the hydrocyclone.
Solids collection
The separated particles spiral down along the walls into the sediment collection chamber at the bottom.
Clean water outlet
The purified water rises through the center of the vortex (in a secondary upward spiral) and exits at the top.
No consumables (like cartridges or media)
Low maintenance
Minimal pressure loss
Easy and quick installation
Models | Reference | Name | Hydrocyclones | Flowrate minimum | Flowrate maximum | Fitting |
1 | AW200374 | Multicyclone 12 | 12 | 2.4 m3/h | 18 m3/h | 1½"/50 mm |

Hydrocyclones, like Waterco’s Multicyclone, are commonly used in swimming pools, treatment plants, irrigation systems, and aquaculture to reduce the load on main filters.
